Overview

The EX1200-3610 provides 10 independent analog output channels and is ideal for applications, such as sensor simulation, that demand a high degree of resolution at low voltage levels. Each channel can be configured as a voltage output or as a thermocouple simulator. In thermocouple simulation mode, the channel can be programmed directly with temperature values and does not require conversion within the application code.

Each channel has a 16-bit precision DAC and signal conditioning and can be programmed to one of four ranges between +/- 10 mV and +/-10 V. The 10 mV range allows the module to accurately simulate thermocouples to 0.1 degree C resolution without the need for external signal conditioning that is typically required by other commercially-available analog output modules. All channels are isolated, which allows multiple channels to be connected in series to extend the effective range beyond +/- 10 V.

As part of the EX1200 series of configurable switching and I/O instruments, additional flexibility in system design can be achieved by combining the EX1200-3610 with other functions. For example, 10 channels of thermocouple simulation can be combined with high-density power switching and 64 channels of digital I/O to create a robust multifunction instrument in a 1 rack U footprint. Output channels can be routed to the internal EX1200 series DMM and an on-board self-test routine can be executed prior to testing to ensure functionality of the module.
